Lin and Associates provided DCS configuration and HMI graphic displays for two projects recently at a major pulp/paper manufacturer. The projects included installation of a high pressure Voith felt cleaning system on a paper machine, and installation of a high efficiency Andritz filtration system for the mill’s black liquor streams. L&A’s engineers designed and commissioned all of the Honeywell TPS regulatory and advanced controls, DCS logic, CL programming, and GUS graphics. In addition, Lin and Associates provided DCS operator training for the staff at the mill.
Lin and Associates provided engineering services for a new kerosene hydrotreater. This included the full DCS configuration within a C300 database on Experion® R401.2 and provided complete control narrative documentation. L&A built approximately 50 Experion® R400 HMI displays encompassing Level 2, 3, 4, SIS and Start-up graphics. These HMI displays utilize the Advanced Graphic Package V4.0. L&A also provided an on-site virtual machine, hosted an in-house FAT, on-site SAT, commissioning, and start-up support. A 2-day instructor lead training course was provided for all operators prior to FAT.
Lin and Associates has provided engineering services for this client for many years. They started utilizing the Lin and Associates’ Advanced Graphic Package v3.0 on Experion® R300. Through the years, we have supplied ongoing support of the package, migration to newer releases, and added in additional Lin and Associate’ products as they were developed. The latest test was to make sure the v3.5 (Legacy Package) would be compatible with the new Experion® R410. We extensively tested all of our products and shapes from that release, tested all custom shapes, upgraded displays, installed and checked out all displays for a full plant migration.
Lin and Associates converted 60 Native Window graphics to Experion® R400 PKS graphics – utilizing the Lin & Associates’ Advanced Graphic Package R4.0. L&A worked with the client in developing a style guide that incorporated the ASM guidelines. These styles were then utilized to develop HMI displays encompassing Level 2,3, and 4. L&A provided 2-day instructor lead training classes for engineers and operators on Experion®. Each graphic went through a thorough QA/QC check and operator verification prior to final implementation and operator sign off.
